If you have narrowed your business password manager shortlist to
1Password, Bitwarden or NordPass, you are choosing between three very different approaches: the most polished apps, the best value and open source, or the lowest price for a small team. We have also included Keeper, because it is the fourth name most small businesses compare against these three.
This guide compares their business plans side by side: price for 5, 10 and 25 users, admin controls, single sign-on (SSO), and which one fits which kind of team. For a wider look at the market, including Dashlane and LastPass, see our best password managers for small business guide.
Quick answer
- Choose 1Password Business if you want the easiest experience for non-technical staff and strong admin controls, and you are happy to pay more.
- Choose Bitwarden Teams or Enterprise if you want the best features for the price, open source code, or the option to self-host.
- Choose NordPass Teams if you are a team of up to 10 and price matters most.
- Choose Keeper if you expect to need role-based access, SSO and provisioning for auditors or customers’ security questionnaires.
Side-by-side comparison
Prices are per user per month with annual billing, as published in November 2026. Vendors change prices and promotions often, so confirm on their site before you buy.
| 1Password | Bitwarden | NordPass | Keeper | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small-team plan | Teams Starter Pack: $2.49 (10–20 users) | Teams: $4 | Teams: $1.99 (up to 10 users) | Business Starter: $2 (5–10 users) |
| Main business plan | Business: $8.99 | Enterprise: $6 | Business: $3.59 | Business: about $4 |
| Top plan | Enterprise: quote | Enterprise: $6 | Enterprise: $5.39 | Enterprise: $6 |
| SSO | Business (Okta, Entra ID, Google and others) | Enterprise | Google Workspace SSO from Teams; more options on Enterprise | Enterprise (SAML 2.0) |
| Automatic user provisioning (SCIM) | Business | Teams and Enterprise | Higher tiers (check plan) | Enterprise |
| Breach / password health alerts | Watchtower (Business) | Reports on Teams and Enterprise | Business and Enterprise | BreachWatch (add-on on some plans) |
| Free family plan for staff | Business | Enterprise | No | Business |
| Open source | No | Yes | No | No |
| Self-hosting | No | Enterprise | No | No |
| Trial | 14 days | Yes (Enterprise: 14 days) | 30-day money-back guarantee | Yes |
What 1Password’s prices do not show: its Teams Starter Pack has been sold as a flat price in some regions and per user in others. Check the current offer for your country.
What NordPass’s prices do not show: the lowest NordPass prices are for 2-year terms, and renewals are usually higher. The table uses 1-year prices.
What it costs for your team size
Approximate yearly cost on each vendor’s most likely plan, using the prices above:
| Team size | 1Password | Bitwarden | NordPass | Keeper |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 users | $539 (Business) | $240 (Teams) | $119 (Teams) | $120 (Business Starter) |
| 10 users | $299 (Teams Starter Pack) | $480 (Teams) | $239 (Teams) | $240 (Business Starter) |
| 25 users | $2,697 (Business) | $1,200 (Teams) | $1,077 (Business) | $1,200 (Business) |
For 5 users we used 1Password Business, because the Teams Starter Pack has a 10-user minimum. For 25 users we used NordPass Business because NordPass Teams is capped at 10 users.
The gap is biggest at 25 users and above: 1Password Business costs roughly twice as much as Bitwarden, NordPass or Keeper for the same team.
1Password Business: easiest for staff to use
Best for: teams that want a password manager everyone will actually adopt, including non-technical staff.
1Password is known for the most polished apps and browser extensions of the four. The Business plan ($8.99) includes SSO with Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google and others, role-based vault sharing, Watchtower security alerts, custom reports, 20 guest accounts for contractors, and a free 1Password Families account for every employee. Smaller teams can start on the Teams Starter Pack ($2.49 per user for 10–20 users), which covers sharing and security alerts but not SSO.
Choose it if: adoption and ease of use matter more than price, or you already use Okta or Entra ID and want SSO without moving to an enterprise tier.
Watch out for: it is the most expensive option once you pass 20 users, and there is no free plan, only a 14-day trial.
Bitwarden: best value and open source
Best for: cost-conscious teams, and businesses that like open-source, independently audited software.
Bitwarden’s Teams plan ($4) already includes directory sync, SCIM provisioning, event logs and unlimited sharing, which other vendors reserve for higher tiers.
Enterprise ($6) adds SSO, enterprise policies, admin account recovery, a free Families plan for each user, and the option to
self-host Bitwarden on your own servers.
Choose it if: you want the most admin features per dollar, you need SSO at a moderate price, or your clients or regulators prefer data on your own infrastructure.
Watch out for: the apps are functional rather than polished, so less technical staff may need a little more help at rollout.
NordPass: cheapest for small teams
Best for: teams of up to 10 who want something simple and inexpensive.
NordPass, from the company behind NordVPN, has the lowest entry price. Teams ($1.99 on a 1-year plan) covers up to 10 users with an activity log and Google Workspace SSO.
Business ($3.59) adds a data breach scanner, password health reports, group management and a Vanta compliance integration.
Enterprise ($5.39) adds more login system options, SIEM integrations (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk) and a dedicated account manager.
Choose it if: you are a small team on Google Workspace and want the lowest monthly cost.
Watch out for: the Teams plan has no breach scanner or password health and is capped at 10 users; the best prices need a 2-year commitment; and renewal prices are usually higher.
Keeper: best for compliance and growth
Best for: small businesses that answer to auditors, cyber-insurance questionnaires or enterprise customers.
Keeper’s Business Starter ($2, 5–10 users) gives you an encrypted vault, admin console and sharing. Business (about $4) adds shared team folders, delegated administration and a free Keeper Family plan for every user. Enterprise ($6) adds SSO (SAML 2.0), SCIM and AD/LDAP provisioning, advanced two-factor options and role-based access control.
Choose it if: you need clear role-based access and audit trails, or you expect to grow from 10 to 100+ users.
Watch out for: SSO needs the Enterprise plan, some reporting and dark-web monitoring features are paid add-ons, and the admin console has a learning curve.
Security: are they all safe?
All four use zero-knowledge, end-to-end encryption: your vault is encrypted on your device with your master password before it is synced, so the vendor cannot read your passwords. All four publish independent security audits.
- 1Password adds a Secret Key alongside your master password, so a stolen vault backup is much harder to crack.
- Bitwarden is open source, so its code can be inspected by anyone.
- NordPass uses XChaCha20 encryption.
- Keeper holds several compliance certifications commonly asked for in security questionnaires, such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
In practice, the bigger risk is how you set it up. Whichever you choose, enforce multi-factor authentication and a strong master password for every user.
Which one should you choose?
| Your situation | Our suggestion |
|---|---|
| Up to 10 people, smallest budget | NordPass Teams or Keeper Business Starter |
| Up to 20 people, easiest for staff | 1Password Teams Starter Pack |
| 10–50 people on Microsoft 365, need SSO | Bitwarden Enterprise or 1Password Business |
| 10–50 people on Google Workspace | NordPass (Teams or Business) or Bitwarden |
| Want self-hosting or open source | Bitwarden |
| Auditors, insurance or compliance questionnaires | Keeper Enterprise or 1Password Business |
| Biggest priority is staff adoption | 1Password Business |
How to switch password managers
- Export from your current tool (most export to CSV or a native file).
- Import into the new vault. All four have import tools for the others.
- Recreate shared vaults or folders by team, for example Finance, Marketing and Admin.
- Securely delete the export file. It contains every password in plain text.
- Enforce MFA and remove access to the old tool once everyone has moved.
Frequently asked questions
Is 1Password better than Bitwarden for business? 1Password is easier to use and has more polished apps. Bitwarden gives more admin features per dollar and is open source. For a team on a budget, Bitwarden is usually the better value; if staff adoption is your main concern, 1Password is often worth the extra cost.
Is NordPass good enough for a business? For teams of up to 10, yes. It covers the essentials at the lowest price. Larger teams should look at NordPass Business or Enterprise, or compare with Bitwarden and Keeper.
Which is cheapest for 10 users? NordPass Teams and Keeper Business Starter, at roughly $240 per year for 10 users.
Do they work with Microsoft 365? Yes. All four autofill Microsoft 365 logins. For SSO with Microsoft Entra ID you need 1Password Business, Bitwarden Enterprise, NordPass Enterprise or Keeper Enterprise. See our Microsoft 365 security guide for the other settings to turn on.
